Recommended amount
Recommended amount
Feed 0.1 kg per 100 kg body weight for the maintenance horse. Under heavy working conditions, increase to 0.125 kg per 100 kg. If mixing with grains, blend in 2 to 5 kg of grain per day, depending on desired results. Inclusion rate of grains may differ based on body condition, work load and forage quality.
FEEDING TIPS
All concentrates should be fed with at least 1.5% of body weight per day as good quality forage. Maximizing the contribution of forage reduces digestive upset. Provide free choice access to salt and fresh water. Level of concentrate intake will vary depending on desired growth rate, level of activity, age, season, and quantity and quality of available forage.
